- From Talking Points Memo: So chalk this up as just another reason to love the Dutch: While Britain, Australia and New Zealand are broadcasting "The Path to 9/11" on Sunday evening, one Dutch network is airing Michael Moore's "Farenheit 9/11" and the conspiracy flick "Loose Change. DETAILS
- From Think Progress: On Friday, the Senate Intelligence Committee released a report that concluded there was no relationship between Saddam Hussein and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. According to the report, “a CIA assessment in October 2005 concluded that Hussein’s government ‘did not have a relationship, harbor, or turn a blind eye toward Zarqawi and his associates.’” In fact, Hussein tried to capture Zarqawi. This morning on Meet the Press, Cheney repeatedly cited Zarqawi as the link between pre-war Iraq and al-Qaeda. When Tim Russert mentioned the Senate Intelligence Committee report, Cheney said he “hadn’t seen it.” (Three words.....PUH THET ICK -emphasis on the ICK!) DETAILS/VIDEO
-(Looks like the "Band of Liars" made the rounds this morning repeating the same lies they stated before the Iraq invasion.) From Think Progress: Today on Fox News Sunday, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice repeated the false assertion that Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda had a relationship before the 2003 invasion, despite the recent Senate Intelligence Report that found U.S. intelligence analysts strongly dispute that claim. (Well, what else are these people going to say? 2600+ dead American troops and thousands of dead Iraqi's, billions of dollars spent, billions of dollars MISSING --- you think they're going to just say PSYCH!!!! and take it all back? Military families should be out there front and center voicing their anger over this report. The president KNEW there were no WMD and that the ability to reconstitute those programs didn't exist BEFORE the invasion. DESPICABLE! I'm thinking people need to go back to PNAC as well as to Dick Cheney's SECRET energy meetings to find the REAL reasons we went to Iraq - EMPIRE BUILDING & MONEY! I'm rather surprised this report was discussed at all - I would have bet my last dollar it wouldn't have been mentioned.) DETAILS/VIDEO
-Republicans are planning to spend the vast majority of their sizable financial war chest over the final 60 days of the campaign attacking Democratic House and Senate candidates over personal issues and local controversies, GOP officials said. The National Republican Congressional Committee, which this year dispatched a half-dozen operatives to comb through tax, court and other records looking for damaging information on Democratic candidates, plans to spend more than 90 percent of its $50 million-plus advertising budget on what officials described as negative ads. (This further proves that they have NOTHING to run on other than fear and terror - and thats no longer working for them - so rather than talking about issues and about what they have done for us regular folks they are going to smear their opposition with personal attack ads and spend MILLIONS of dollars doing it. They have spent their time in office helping big business and rich folks and scaring the bejeezus out of middle America so we didn't pay attention. Now, its show time and this is what they bring to the table. They're LOOSERS and LIARS and CHEATERS! Don't fall for it.) DETAILS
-The clandestine U.S. commandos whose job is to capture or kill Osama bin Laden have not received a credible lead in more than two years. Nothing from the vast U.S. intelligence world -- no tips from informants, no snippets from electronic intercepts, no points on any satellite image -- has led them anywhere near the al-Qaeda leader, according to U.S. and Pakistani officials. -Former Vice President Al Gore said Sunday he hadn't rule out making a second bid for the White House, though he said it was unlikely. Gore spoke to reporters in Sydney, where he was promoting the local premiere of his documentary on global warming. "I haven't completely ruled out running for president again in the future but I don't expect to," Gore said before the Sunday night premiere of "An Inconvenient Truth." DETAILS
-Is Iraq in a civil war? The CIA has developed its own secret guideline for answering that increasingly contentious question. CIA officials offered the definition of "civil war," which remains classified, at a closed-door Capitol Hill briefing to discuss the latest grim Pentagon assessment of the conflict, according to two U.S. officials familiar with the briefing's content who asked for anonymity due to the sensitivity of the material.
