Bush Announces Sept 11 Primetime Address, Asks ABC to Interrupt "Path of 9/11"

(The events of the past week and the events yet to come this weekend are the acts of an administration scared shitless by the reality of what the polling data is showing. American's are sick and damn tired of the Iraq War and of the president who got us there. If the polls weren't enough to worry them there was another item they were very worried about.... - the release of the Phase II Report.....the nail in the coffin.

The administration, given an advance copy of the Phase II report has set an elaborate plan in motion in a desperate attempt to minmize the impact of this damning report on the President and the November elections. We had the Rumsfeld speech last week which implied the majority of American's would have been Nazi appeasers in a different time - and that was just the warm up act for a series of Bush speeches. Speeches that sounded more like propaganda and sales pitches for used cars rather than speeches reflective of sound American foreign policy. Speeches containing the same, worn out Iraq arguments that we've heard half a million times. Speeches filled with words intended to frighten rather than inspire.

Finally on Friday afternoon we have the release of The Phase II Report. A damning report released on a Friday in the hope that the news of the weekend would be about the anniversary of 9/11, the war on terror and a controversial tv movie rather than about the president getting us entrenched in a war that not only didn't need to be fought but one which they knew didn't need to be fought at the time.

On the heels of the release of Phase II report we have the broadcasting of a highly controversial docudrama - which the talking heads will spend the weekend debating instead of the Phase II report and all the implications of the report. Finally, we have the president delivering a prime time address during the second night of the broadcast of the bullshit drama. Now I ask you, other than broadcasting his address in front of a live terrorist attack, how much more dramatic a back drop could there be?

This last 11 days ---- we've witnessed a detailed and highly choreographed script. A script written and executed for one purpose and one purpose only. So that Phase II and what it means would be lost in the shuffle and largely missed by the American public. This is classic Karl Rove. Manipulate the public - play them like violins......and don't do it with facts. No siree --- do it with fear, distortions and lies when you need to.

Please, I beg of you ---- don't be fooled again.)

Yet another wrinkle was thrown into the factually-challenged ABC "Path Of 9/11" drama today: President Bush is planning a prime-time address from the Oval Office on Monday to mark the fifth anniversary of 9/11 — and has asked the networks for time to broadcast his remarks. If all goes according to controversially-scheduled plan, ABC will be entering the final hour of the five-hour, two-part, commercial-free miniseries, which has been hotly debated over the past few days when it was revealed that elements of the film were fabricated, improvised, and not remotely grounded in proven fact.

The "docu-drama," which purports to have been "based on" the 9/11 Commission Report (but which has since been downgraded to "based in part" on the report, though they don't specify which part) has been the subject of intense criticism from a broad range of individuals, blogs and media outlets — as well as former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former National Security Advisor Sandy Berger, all of whom have complained to ABC about factual misrepresentations about their actions and related events as portrayed in the film.
