House GOP Group Targets Bilingual Ballots

When one thinks of all the very important issues our country faces - bilingual ballots would not be at the top of any thinking persons list. What in the world are these people thinking? This is fodder for that back woods Republican base that they can always go to with "issues for the ignorant" to get a bump in their numbers.

A group of House Republicans wants to do away with bilingual ballots and translation assistance at the polls, a reflection of how tensions over immigration are pervading other issues.

As Congress readies to reauthorize the 1965 Voting Rights Act, the lawmakers are lobbying their colleagues to let the act's language assistance provisions expire.
