The fact that this White House chose to fight a war as a means of establishing new boundaries of Executive power, will be their lasting legacy when the final pages are written. That no one in a position to curtail them chose to do so until now will be the lasting legacy of a lot of people who should have known better.

I agreee, it has been the apathy and cowardice of those in a position to challenge these people that is a s criminal as the crimes committed by the "warriors."

I love that quote. Where did you get it? I'd like to read the rest.

Also, don't forget the press.

Carville had a great quote in his book. I don't remember it exactly, but it had to do with the fact that the Bush administration early on started punishing members of the White House Press corps by revoking credentials, or 'freezing out' journalists who were critical of the administration. Carville said something like "Give the Bush administration credit-- they discovered that punishment, threats and intimidation DO work with the press."

Of course that was preceded by a decade long attack on the so-called 'liberal' media, so when it mattered, they were so afraid of the 'L' word that they all just played cheerleader before the Iraq war.

I agree Eli - I blame the press as much as I do those in Congress - if not more. If they had been doing what they are supposed to do - the pressure would have been on Congress to reign this administration in. The press already are lap dogs!
