Funeral Post Game Show
In the aftermath of Coretta Scott Kings Memorial Service comes the expected 'poo-pooing' about the appropriateness of remarks made by those who spoke at the event. On Hardball last night, Chris Matthews had a panel discussion on the event. I also heard a syndicated radio host spend three hours expressing that the memorial service was not conducted according to his liking. Funny, I do not recall these media folks being being offended that the President and his brother politicized a woman named Terry Shivo's last days in a hospice facility or being offended at the media circus and protestors camped outside of a hospice facility. Actually, many of these same folks became part of the circus which was a burden to other families who were going through the dying process with their loved ones.
Whether or not I agree or disagree with remarks made at Mrs. Kings memorial service is irrelevant so I will not bore you with my opinions on the matter. Those with a pen and/or a microphone who feel the rest of us are entitled to their critique of the event should remember one thing. It is the family of Corretta Scott King who gets to decide what is an appropriate way to honor her and not the Chris Matthews, Kate Obeirn's, or Bill O'Reilly's of the world - not me and not you. Those who found the remarks in bad taste - should remember that and refrain from boring the rest of us and with their analysis of the event. Since most who are doing the complaining were not invited to the memorial - they had the option of turning the channel if their senses were so offended. Rather than criticizing a memorial event they should be touting the things this woman stood for and devoting their time to like causes. eaprez
