We would have had an uphill fight trying to stop Alito anyway (I just blogged on it) but our failure to formulate a strategy pretty much guaranteed his confirmation, and trying to organize a filibuster at the last minute instead of over the last few weeks, is like trying to stop a train as it is pulling out of the station already-- most likely result is that you get run over by the train, and today we all did.
I agree - since we are the minority it would have been an uphill fight. At least we would have fought for SOMETHING. The last minute thing I think was all political posturing - which the right will spin and make it look like once again - the dems don't stand for anything but obstructing all the wonderful things the repubs are trying to do. I am so very disappointed in all of this and am feeling more hopeless.

After today's vote I wonder though.
