The Republican's Have Another Great Day in Today's Details Part II 10/13/05

- At least two E-mails revealing the purported plot were sent to a select crowd of business and arts executives early last week by New Yorkers who claimed to have close connections to Homeland Security and other federal officials, authorities said. The city's rich and well-connected were tipped off to last week's subway terror threat days before average New Yorkers, the Daily News has learned. (hmmmmm now in addition to wondering if this whole thing was an attempt to manipulate the masses for political gain....we now have to wonder if the Mayor made the announcement only because it was learned that the elite already knew - thereby forcing him to tell the little people of NYC.)

-
It was billed as a conversation with U.S. troops, but the questions President Bush asked on a teleconference call Thursday were choreographed to match his goals for the war in Iraq and Saturday's vote on a new Iraqi constitution. (Poor Scott McClellan just can't figure out why it was thought this was a choreographed event. Could it be because ALL of George's events are choreographed? Was it because there were no minority faces in the small, select group of military people gathered to talk to the Prez? Maybe it was because there were so many officers in the group? OR.....perhaps its because of the video tape that's circulating showing the troops being prepped by the Pentagon. Catch the tape on crooksandliars.com . To me the MOST amazing thing is even when caught on video - they continue to deny. I guess they are still wanting to hang on to that 28% of the population who believe ANYTHING!)

Questions today from longtime White House reporter Helen Thomas caused White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan to declare that she opposes the war on terrorism. His response caused one of Thomas's colleagues, Terry Moran, to leap to her defense. (These bastards are still at it --- any questioning of policies is STILL met with the tiresome insinuations that the questioner is less patriotic than them or somehow supports terrorisim.....never answering the question - just trying to shut down the one seeking answers. Once again...pandering to that 28% of the population who believe ANYTHING!)

The DRUDGE REPORT has obtained a copy of sworn testimony given by Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers in 1989 in which she said that she “wouldn’t belong to the Federalist Society” – a conservative and libertarian lawyers’ organization – because it was “politically charged.” But Bush's Supreme Court nominee did not include in that category the NAACP and other liberal groups, the transcript reveals! Word of the testimony circulated late last week, roiling conservatives and setting off a scramble among lawyers to obtain the actual testimony. Sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT that conservatives demanded that the White House and its allies release copies of the testimony, but their demands were ignored. A source close to the Bush administration says, "the process requires the White House to prepare documents to turn over to the Senate Judiciary Committee and only after the committee has had the courtesy of receiving them are such docs made public." (You know things are really bad for Bush & Co. when Drudge is posting things harmful to their agenda.)

- A Texas prosecutor on Thursday subpoenaed the phone records for former House Majority Leader Tom Delay's home and campaign during the period he is accused of conspiring to launder illegal corporate donations to candidates.
